Some incredible reviews for our steam-cooking bags

THINKING-COOKING products are used the world over - sometimes under a different name, but it is the same product - and we've had some fantastic feedback from users at a supermarket in the US. The supermarket in question was giving the steam-cooking bags for oven/microwave away as part of a sustainable seafood programme that it was running in store.

Reviews included

"I placed the steam pouch on a microwave safe dish, and broke the cauliflower into large florets. I added a little olive oil, some turmeric, some salt and pepper, and a few grinds of Raley's Garlic and Herb seasoning. I microwaved it on high for two minutes, flipped the packet over, and microwaved 30 seconds more. The olive oil and the moisture in the cauliflower created a perfect no-mess sauce. How much better can you get - fast and delicious, no cleanup, no lingering cauliflower aroma in the kitchen." - 5/5, Therese, San Jose

"I first tried the salmon fillets. I used the steam pouches that came with my kit. I added some cubes mango to the bag. The fish came out delicious. It was moist and tasty. I love fillets that have the skin still on as it cuts down on the drying out of the fish and you don't have to turn it over! Perfectly cooked fish comes right off the skin like mine did." - 4/5, Klmdoll

"First of all, our recipe was super basic-- fresh "sustainable seafood" salmon fillets from Raley's, salt and pepper, olive oil, and fresh lemon juice. Second, the process is amazingly simple -- simply place the salmon along with the other ingredients in the steam pouch, seal it up, and place in oven at the recommended time and temperature. Then, cut open the bag and plate your masterpiece. Third, the results were terrific. The salmon was moist and flavourful." - 5/5, Jben999

"I used these bags to microwave the side dish I made the 2nd night. I put a diced up sweet potato in the bag , I was sure to cut it smaller and not to overfill the bag. I closed the bag and cooked on 100% power in my microwave for 8 minutes. The sweet potato came out smelling amazing, FULLY cooked, and soft, buttery and delicious. After I was done - I simply threw the bag away! SO EASY! GREAT FOR FAST PREP! I love these bags and they will become a regular staple in my kitchen for preparing fast meats, veggies and side dishes!" - 5/5 obsidian_rivers

They only negative comments referred to the bag opening during the cooking process - which is actually an important part of the cooking process in a steam-cooking bag, the steam-build up would become so great that if the bag didn't vent the user would have a real problem on their hands. NEW: Smoking bags added to Thinking-Cooking range

Oven/BBQ Smoking Bags

IT'S nearly summer... and we've added Oven/BBQ Smoking Bags to the Thinking-Cooking range just in time....

Our Smoking Bags have a non-stick layer, which means they are perfect for seafood and poultry, and a sachet of wood chips which infuses the food during the cooking process, making spectacular smoky-flavoured food easy...

Jeremy Haydn-Davies, sales director, said: "Simply place the food above the non-stick layer, and seal the bag. The smokiness of the wood chips will flavour the food beautifully during the cooking process. Sauces, marinades and glazes are fine... the more creative the better.

"If you want to cook smoked salmon on your barbecue this summer, then this is the way..."

Our bags can be used on open barbecues and hot-plates... and if the sun doesn't come out they are great in the oven.

We've introduced two sizes - small and medium - and they are on sale at £3.49 for 3 (small) and £3.99 for 3 (medium).

BBQ bags could help make you the BBQ king or queen...

Non-stick Oven/BBQ bags from Thinking-Cooking

BARBECUE season is just around the corner - and Thinking-Cooking's BBQ bags can help make your BBQ food extra special, and make you look like the BBQ king (or queen!)...

OUR newest addition to the Thinking-Cooking range - non-stick oven and BBQ cooking bags - are perfect for steaks, seafood, poultry and vegetables, and allow you to cook directly on the BBQ with sauces or glazes added in to the bag, meaning you can relax while creating a BBQ meal sensation.

The bag is simple to use, simple to open, cooks food to perfection – and can be used in almost any cooking environment, from ovens to barbecues, griddles to hot plates. That means you can prepare in advance - and is the sun doesn't come out, or the heavens open, just cook your food in the oven.

Jeremy Haydn-Davies, sales director, said: “Our Oven/BBQ cooking bag has so many potential uses – and offers numerous advantages to users – and the non-stick layer makes it the perfect solution for cooking seafood, poultry, meat and vegetables, particularly on a BBQ but also in the oven.

“It is a foil bag capable of withstanding significant direct heat, allowing for its use on a barbecue as well as in an oven. The food sits above the non-stick layer, and once cooked will be tender, retain all the juices and flavours as well as the goodness.

“There's no mess, no smell and no-need to handle the food. Just put the food in the bag, along with a marinade, sauce, vegetables or whatever you wish, and cook - it is that simple. Seafood can often stick, but that is not a problem with our clever non-stick bags which are probably the best on the market for cooking seafood on a BBQ in a bag."

The bags come with a clear top panel – so users can see what’s being cooked.

Incredible bag keeps fresh produce fresh

 Fresh produce shelf-life bag

A BREATHABLE bag that keeps fruit and vegetables fresh for longer – much longer… that’s what’s on offer with the Thinking-Cooking Incredible Fruit & Veg Bag.

If you’re fed up with throwing away salad, tomatoes, mushrooms and other contents of your fridge because you’ve not had chance to eat them before they go off, then this is the product you’ve been waiting for. We don’t use the term incredible lightly.

“These bags are natural and breathable,” said Jeremy Haydn-Davies, sales director, “but more importantly they work brilliantly – keeping fruit and veg fresher for much longer.

“There’s nothing complicated, all you need to do is seal the bag. It doesn’t even need to be in the fridge, so you can even free up some space in your fridge if you want.

“The results are outstanding – the bags can add many days shelf-life, even weeks to some products – meaning you’re no longer throwing away half your weekly shop.”

Most users will be interested only in the results – and how much extra shelf-life they get. They’re probably also interested in the fact that the bag is compostable and sustainable.

However, some people will want the ‘science bit’ and we’re happy to share it.

The Thinking-Cooking Incredible Fruit & Veg Bag was developed by Sirane’s food packaging division for use in the fresh produce trade. It is a new, unique film which has worked out the optimum balance between humidity control and O2 and CO2 permeability.

The permeability is temperature dependant so that the perfect atmosphere is maintained inside the pack even if the storage temperature is variable.

Simon Balderson, Sirane’s managing director, said: “The results are remarkable. There is no condensation on the inside of the film and the fresh produce does not dry out.

“The package atmosphere is maintained with the optimum balance of atmospheric gases to prevent degradation. In simple terms, the food lasts longer – in some cases much longer.

“Shelf life extension of several days and more is achieved for many products. The film is suitable for all types of vegetables including salads as well as many types of fresh fruit.”

The film is a natural bio-polymer made from plants. It is 100% sustainable and is fully compostable. The permeability is controlled by the property of the film itself.

Due to the unique structure of the film material, the permeability to humidity, O2 and CO2 is different in each case. This has allowed Sirane’s team of scientists to balance the permeability of each component to achieve the optimum result.

The non-scientists among you might be struggling right now? We’ll explain. In simple terms, the bag breathes on behalf of the produce, maintaining just the right level of ‘breathing’ to allow the fruit or vegetables to last for as long as is possible. It’s almost like they’ve been put to sleep; and the result is because they are ‘asleep’ they stay alive much longer.
