Thinking-Cooking now on sale in the Baltic States

THINKING-COOKING is now on sale in the Baltic States – with customers of supermarket chain Maxima enjoying the benefits of our popular retail range - and will soon be available to purchase online

Our Thinking-Cooking range has been designed around the needs of busy people, who want quality products and solutions which help them make quick and easy food without sacrificing on the taste and the flavour. In short, they want the best of both worlds…

And Sirane’s distributor for the Baltics, Europola, has taken the Thinking-Cooking concept to offer the ‘best of both worlds’ to consumers in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

Jeremy Haydn-Davies, Sirane sales director, said: “Thinking-Cooking is a really interesting product range, and it is great that Europola saw the opportunity to take it to market in the Baltics. We understand the range has been very well received – which comes as no surprise.

Maxima is stocking oven/microwave steam-cooking bags, oven/BBQ bags, nylon roasting bags, deli-bags and breathable bags for extending the shelf-life of fresh produce. We also offer absorbent oven-grill liners, slow-cooker liners and potato-bakers in the UK.

Europola are also about to open a web-shop, allowing users in the region to buy direct.

The BBQ/Oven bag is available in packs of three, each bag 220x300mm. Additional sizes are available on request for anyone interested in stocking larger sized bags. The bags are non-stick, making them ideal for fish which would otherwise stick to the bag.

The Steam-Cooking Bag is an oven or microwave cooking bag, which seals in all the juices and flavours and allows healthy eating and fast food to be combined. Magic fruit and veg back can add many extra days shelf life

A BREATHABLE bag that keeps fruit and vegetables fresh for longer – much longer… Sounds too good to be true, I'm sure, but that’s what’s on offer with the Thinking-Cooking Incredible Fruit & Veg Bag.

If you’re fed up with throwing away salad, tomatoes, mushrooms, green beans, mange tout and other contents of your fridge because you’ve not had chance to eat them before they go off - and in some cases that happens all too quickly, then this is the product you’ve been waiting for. We don’t use the term incredible lightly, it's kind of like magic.

The Thinking-Cooking Incredible Fruit & Veg Bag was developed by Sirane’s food packaging division for use in the fresh produce trade, and is sold in to the trade around the world, not just in bag format but also as pallet liners. It is a new, unique biopolymer film which has worked out the optimum balance between humidity control and O2 and CO2 permeability.

The permeability is temperature dependant so that the perfect atmosphere is maintained inside the pack even if the storage temperature is variable.

Simon Balderson, Sirane’s managing director, said: “The results are remarkable. There is no condensation on the inside of the film and the fresh produce does not dry out.

“The package atmosphere is maintained with the optimum balance of atmospheric gases to prevent degradation. In simple terms, the food lasts longer – in some cases much longer.

“Shelf life extension of several days and more is achieved for many products. Much more in some instances. The film is suitable for all types of vegetables including salads as well as many types of fresh fruit.”

The film is a natural bio-polymer made from plants. It is 100% sustainable and is fully compostable. The permeability is controlled by the property of the film itself.

Due to the unique structure of the biopolymer material, the permeability to humidity, O2 and CO2 is different in each case. This has allowed Sirane’s team of scientists to balance the permeability of each component to achieve the optimum result.

The non-scientists among you might be struggling right now? We’ll explain. In simple terms, the bag breathes on behalf of the produce, regulating and maintaining just the right level of ‘breathing’ to allow the fruit or vegetables to last for as long as is possible. It’s almost like they’ve been put to sleep; and the result is because they are ‘asleep’ they stay alive much longer.

They only negative comments referred to the bag opening during the cooking process - which is actually an important part of the cooking process in a steam-cooking bag, the steam-build up would become so great that if the bag didn't vent the user would have a real problem on their hands.
